The Ezekiel choke was originally called the Sode Guruma Jime (袖車絞め) in Judo, which translates to "sleeve wheel choke."

Sode = sleeve

Guruma = wheel

Jime (or "shime") = choke or strangle

It became popularly known as the Ezekiel choke in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu because a Brazilian judoka named Ezequiel Paraguassu, an Olympic-level judo player, used it successfully in BJJ sparring while training at Carlson Gracie’s academy. The choke wasn't widely known in the BJJ world at the time, and people started calling it “Ezekiel” after him.

We were lucky enough to be called upon to assist in Seven Sharps learning to fall TV show. All Judo clubs and many BJJ clubs will be able to teach good solid Ukemi/Breakfall techniques. Obviously, due to our background at Alive Dojo, this is the first thing we concentrate on.
